Volume 3, Number 1 (Canine Madness)

August 2007

Help! My house is overrun by canines. Most of you already know about our two fleet but indolent Italian greyhounds, Micaela and Dante. They had the house to themselves for several years, but no longer. Crystal

Crystal is a short-haired miniature dachshund, now about 6 months old. She's my animal-training younger daughter Emily's dog, but mostly hangs out with us. Crystal's nickname is "the Black Torpedo" since being a dachshund, she's shaped like a torpedo. She's also quick and fast, fortunate for her since she likes baiting Emily's 1000+ pound horse, Bad Bo.

As the saying goes, one good dachshund deserves another. Tova is a long-haired miniature dachshund, now about 3 months old, and most definitely Devvie's dog. Tova means Good in Hebrew. While she looks sweet, she spends much of her time attacking Crystal and ...

Rocko. He's a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier combo, which is a combination of crazy and hyperactive crazy. He actually belongs to my older daughter Elise, but during his frequent visits is a member of the pack. He's also the only non-pedigree, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

Because of this canine invasion, I can't wait for the Fall semester to start. I also need the money since these canine moochers are eating me out of house and home. I don't even want to talk about the vet bills.

Speaking of the upcoming semester, I've updated Devvie's classes and Jeff's classes. I'm teaching (online) one class that hasn't been offered for some time, CSIT 861, which is the final class for the C++ certification. Don't wait until the last minute to register; some classes are filling up!
